It's two girls and one boy for the top three of Pinoy Idol.

Kahit belatedly, the fans are back and alive for the final elimination night of Pinoy Idol sa Center Stage sa SM Mall of Asia earlier tonight, August 10. After several elimination nights, mistulang finals night na rin kanina sa dami ng fans na gustong makapasok ng Center Stage.

Full force na ang bawat supporters ng natitirang Pinoy Idol hopefuls na sina Jayann Bautista, Kid Camaya, Ram Chaves, Daryl Celis, at Gretchen Espina with their own posters, banners, chants, and what-have-yous.

Still the biggest contingent was that of Daryl, na simula pa lang ay very organized na ang mga fans na may pangalan ni Daryl cut in styrofoam na iwinawagayway nila. Bukod sa individual placards nilang hawak, may giant letters spelling his name ang hawak ng limang fans na nasa gitna nila.

Hindi rin naman nagpapatalo ang mga supporters ni Gretchen, lalo na't laging present ang kanyang amang gobernador ng Biliran at ang kanyang ina. For the final elimination round, lahat sila'y may hawak ng long orange balloons.

Lumaban na rin ang mga supporters nina Ram, Jayann, at Kid na dati ay dinadaan na lang sa palakpak at big picture posters. Ram has his supporters holding a legal-size carton bearing his name. Isang malaking tarpaulin naman ni Jayann ang hawak ng mga supporters niya, at may posters na hawak ang karamihan ng fans ni Kid.

Dahil final elimination na ito, kakaiba ang simula ng show kung saan tinanong ng host na si Raymond Gutierrez ang tatlong judges na sina Jolina Magdangal, Wyngard Tracy, at Ogie Alcasid kung sino sa tingin nila ang papasok sa Top 3. Unanimous pala ang decision nila that they think it would be Ram, Jayann, and Kid.

Individually, tinanong ulit sila kung sino sa palagay nila ang magiging first Pinoy Idol. Ogie picked Kid, Jolens chose Ram, and Wyngard voted for Jayann.

Unang tinawag ni Raymond si Jayann. Siya rin ang unang sinabihang pasok siya sa final three.

Pangalawang tinawag si Kid ngunit siya naman ang unang na-eliminate. After this, he sang his final Idol song, Wham's "Careless Whisper." With Kid's elimination, out na ang manok ni Ogie.

Pangatlong tinawag si Gretchen and she, too, is in. At that point, Gretchen was the first and only hopeful na hindi pinanigan ng tatlong judges na makakapasok sa final three.

Hinuli at pinagsabay ni Raymond na tinawag sina Daryl at Ram, pero binitin muna sa isang commercial gap. Finally, it was Daryl—the one with the consistently biggest group of fans and supporters—who was out of the final three at pasok naman si Ram. After this, Daryl repeated his performance of "Forever" as he ended his Idol journey.

Kung sa simula ng Pinoy Idol ay pawang mga babae ang naunang natanggal, pagdating sa Final Three, mas lamang naman ngayon ang bilang ng mga babaeng nakapasok.

One final performance night ang magaganap next Saturday, August 16, na gagawin na sa SMX ng Mall of Asia bago ang star-studded grand finals night ng first Pinoy Idol sa Sunday, August 17, also at SMX.

Mapapanood na ang pagkanta ni Charice Pempengco aka Charice sa US show na Oprah mamayang 7:30 PM sa Studio 23.

Makatindig-balahibo ang pag-awit ni Charice ng I Have Nothing at binigyan siya ng standing ovation.

Napaiyak si Charice nang mayakap niya si Oprah Winfrey at sinabing matagal na niyang pangarap na makasama sa nasabing top-rating show sa US.

Bago pa man lumabas sa Oprah ay pinabilib na tayo ni Charice sa kanyang pagtatanghal sa Ellen, The Paul O’Grady Show at Star King sa Korea.
Sa ngayon ay naghahanda si Charice para sa nalalapit na pagtanghal ni Andrea Boccelli sa Italy.

Another girl said goodbye in last night’s elimination night of "Pinoy Idol" on GMA 7.

Mae Flores sang her last song as her dreams of winning the most coveted title of the series vanished before the jampacked audience at the Center Stage in SM Mall of Asia.

The remaining 10 finalists, Penelope, Jayann Bautista, Gretchen Espina, Sue Ellen, Ram Chaves, Kid Camaya, Daryl Celis, Warren Antig, Toffer Rei and Robby Navarro, will all face more tedious training as the competition gets tougher and the pressure gets higher as the launching season of "Pinoy Idol" draws nearer to the finish line.

Through their road to the finals, the remaining contestants are being mentored by the Philippine music industry’s most respected names.

Loyal supporters and fans of "Pinoy Idol" are privileged to have the opportunity of watching the performances and elimination nights live at the Centerstage of the SM Mall of Asia, absolutely free of charge. Meanwhile, "Pinoy Idol Extra," hosted by Rhian Ramos and Karylle, airs every Sunday after "SOP" and Monday to Thursday after "Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita."

Getting her first piano tutorials from her pianist-mother at age three, Cebuana Aima Maria Labra-Makk is now a solo concert pianist who is leaving a mark in the Vienna music scene with her expressive piano playing.

Labra-Makk's first studied piano at the age of three under her mother's tutelage. In her teen-years, she further received rigorous and intensive piano lessons.

She proceeded to the University of the Philippines for her college education, where she studied under Perla Suaco and earned a Bachelor of Music degree.

Aima is very much proud to inform that she won the top prize of the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA), piano category C in 1985.

In 1986, she was accepted at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria, where she studied with mentor Eugen Jakab. It was at this same period too when she was granted numerous and generous scholarships.

Critics' approval

European critics have described her playing as "peerless marked by high musical intelligence, colorful expression with physical robustness (to sound) with elegant ease of touch but never for the sake of display."

Even the famous pianist and pedagogue Tatjana Nikolaeva gave high praises to the expressiveness and depth of her playing.

No wonder that her performances and magnetic presence have earned her world-wide acclaim.

Labra-Makk presented last April 28 her latest CD entitled, Hommage A Jenö Takács, at the Haus der Musik in the center of Vienna.

Members of the Philippine embassy headed by Ambassador Linglingay Lacanlale, Filipino community members and Austrian guests graced the occasion. The Pinay pianist rendered during the CD presentation a selection of Austro, Hungarian and Filipino music, much to the delight of the audience.

She explained that the Austrian composer Jenö Takács, a native of Seegersdorf, Austria, had actually visited the Philippines and even taught music at the University of the Philippines in the middle of 1930.

This is one of the reasons why the Pinay pianist included the composition of Takács in her newly released CD. Labra-Makk is the only pianist to record the complete piano works of the Austrian composer.

Achievements

Aima also joined the First International Competition Franz Schubert and 20th Century Music in Graz in 1989.

The young musician won the main prize and after this magnificent achievement, she started getting invitations to do recitals, radio and television recordings, and concert tours.

Labra-Makk was awarded the highest honors in Concert Diplomate from the University of Music in 1990, with a unanimous board decision.

Performances

Labra-Makk has performed in key cities and venues in Europe such as the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Haydnsaal in Eisenstadt, Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, Stefaniensaal in Graz and in Asia.

She has also performed in international festivals such as the Vienna International Festival (Wiener Festwochen), 1st Women´s Festival in Eisenstadt (Frauenfestival), Liszt-Beethoven Symphonies for Piano Series in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Labra-Makk has performed also in Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tennessee, and Dallas.

Educator

Labra-Makk currently holds a teaching position at the University of Music in Graz, Austria.

Here, she trains extremely musically-gifted children from different parts of the world selected through rigorous auditions. All of her students have won national and international competitions. She also conducts Master Classes in different music institutions all over the world.

She has also done the world premiere recording of Takács´ piano concerto with the Savaria Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Tamas Pál. The CD was released under Hungaroton, Hungary´s leading classical recording company.

In 2005, Labra-Makk joined the well-respected Hungarian violinist Ernö Sebestyén and the much-awarded Hungarian cellist Tamás Mérei to form the Esterházy trio. The trio is officially endorsed by Prince Antál Esterházy, the present head of the noble Austro-Hungarian family who had been patrons of Joseph Haydn and Franz Liszt.

Labra-Makk visits the Philippines regularly to perform and to hold Masteral classes in different music colleges and institutions. In 2006, she was awarded by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia of Cebu as the "Garbo sa Sugbu" (Pride of Cebu) for her unwavering dedication to the advancement of classical music in the Philippines.
